uXperience | And the winner is...
We had more than 70 participants, and 9 qualifying submissions for the 2020 uXperience | Think Privacy Design Jam! Thanks for all the time, thought and energy you put into your submissions!
The judges have weighed in, and we're excited to share that the winners are:
1st place: Clubhouse
Clubhouse - a secure, online community platform for students to meet and interact with like-minded friends in an after school club setting which is supervised by teachers.
- Feedback from the judges:
- The designers of Clubhouse followed a systematic design process, and created a well-thought out product, which considered the needs of different types of users on the platform. (e.g., teachers, parents, children). Overall, it is a great product, which provides an aesthetically pleasing and meaningful user experience, and something that school boards will be interested in implementing for their schools! .
2nd place: Bondfire
Bondfire - a real-time interactive platform for isolated college students that builds meaningful connections through the power of storytelling.
- Feedback from the judges:
- Bondfire provides an elegant UI and user experience which allows students to connect with each other using the familiar concept of telling campfire stories. We were pleased to see a youth oriented social-media platform, which considered the privacy of their users, and provided users with easy to use mechanisms for managing their privacy. Often, these privacy management controls are conveniently hidden from users, so it was great to see an app which makes them easily accessible to end users.
3rd place: Secretum
Secretum - an open-source, decentralized social media platform FOR and controlled BY users. Our goal is to make digital activism safe and sustainable for everyone in COVID19 times and beyond.
- Feedback from the judges:
- Secretum addresses a real need of allowing activists to communicate with each other in a safe and privacy conscious manner. The solution was well researched, and we were pleased to see that the privacy of end users was at the center of the design process, guiding the various design decisions taken by the project team. Privacy violations of activists can have real-life consequences, often jeopardizing their safety, so it was great to see a privacy-centric product for these users.
